Biography

Dr Manley has served in SAGU’s Teacher Education program for over twenty years. Before joining the SAGU faculty, Dr. Manley taught elementary school, and then later served as Elementary Principal. at Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, where she currently serves on the school board. In addition to her role as faculty, Dr. Manley also serves as sponsor for Student Congress and as Director for South Dallas Royal Family Kids. She considers the opportunity to teach SAGU students as her greatest honor and privilege.

Dr. Strange joined SAGU in 2015 as an assistant professor. Prior to SAGU, Dr. Strange worked as an administrator for 10 years and classroom teacher for 12 years in the Texas public school system. While teaching, she helped the district through writing news articles as well as by showing other teachers how to integrate technology in their classroom. Dr. Strange has taught grades 4-12 in classes such as technology applications, reading and writing, math, website design, desktop publishing, journalism, yearbook, band, and theatre. As an administrator, she implemented a strong discipline management plan, organized textbook and transportation procedures, and mentored new teachers. Her certifications are: Superintendent, Principal, Master Technology Teacher, English 6-12, Elementary 1-8, and IPT Endorsement.

Currently Dr. Strange serves as the Education Department Chair and the Director of Teacher Education. Her plan is to lead the SAGU teacher education department to develop standards that align to best practices and hold students to high-standards with a strong focus on being a spiritual leader in the classroom.

Dr. Strange is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University where she earned both a M.Ed. and Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Prior to that, she attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College for one year and then transferred and graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Journalism and minor in music. One of her proudest achievements at Tech was marching in the “Goin’ Band from Raider Land” and serving as co-captain in the Color Guard her senior year.

Dr. Strange is very involved at South Park Assembly of God church in Waxahachie, currently serving as finance manager and in the past has lead the youth in fine arts competitions.

Dr. Strange grew up and graduated high school in Kaufman, TX. She was involved in choir, band, theatre, and even student council. She enjoys music, theatre, reading and hiking.

She is a member of KDP, TACO, EDICUT, and TDFE.

Dr. McElhany served 13 years in the public education classroom and continues to teach tomorrow’s teachers at the university level.

Dr. McElhany has extensive knowledge in early childhood education, instructional technology, ESL/bilingual education, and student engagement. Her doctoral work focused on literacy instruction, specifically in the area of writing instruction.

In addition to her roles in higher education, Dr. McElhany leads professional developments, presents keynotes, and provides educational seminars and instructional coaching.

Dr. Slate has been a part of public education for almost 20 years.  She earned her MEd In School Counseling and Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.  In 2019, she graduated with her EdD in Educational Leadership.  Her dissertation title was “Staff Relationships and the Effect on Bullying as Perceived by Secondary Students.”  She values Christian education and is admit about the influence educators have on those they serve.  Dr. Slate is also a licensed by the State of Texas to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is an approved LPC Supervisor.  Dr. Slate has worked and volunteered extensively with children and teens throughout the years and she is actively involved in her local church leadership.
