Four SAGU Lions to be honored at senior day Saturday
Waxahachie, Texas- February 25, 2016- For four Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) men鈥檚 basketball players, Saturday, February 27, 2016 will be the last regular-season home game played.聽 The Lions will celebrate senior day before the schedule 5pm tip-off.
鈥淭hese are four of the finest young men I have ever coached,鈥 says SAGU head coach Donnie Bostwick , 鈥淭hey are blessed with character, class, faith, and work ethic.聽 They are a coach鈥檚 dream.鈥
The following four seniors will be honored:
Rishaad Alexander , a 5鈥10 guard from Chicago, Illinois. Jason Gentry , a 6鈥2 guard from Hondo, Texas. Andrew Erskine , a 6鈥5 guard from Houston, Texas and Emmanuel Adoyi , a 6鈥5 forward from Little Rock, Arkansas.
鈥淓ven though they are neither the most gifted nor the most athletic players I have coached, they have all become really good college basketball players the old fashioned way which included hard work, time, and an unbelievable amount of effort,鈥 says Bostwick.
This senior class has been a part of SAGU鈥檚 most successful four years in program history.聽 The senior class is graduating with a current record of 99-32.
Coach Bostwick knows that Alexander, Gentry, Erskine and Adoyi have been an integral part of SAGU鈥檚 success, 鈥淭hey have overcome obstacles that would have caused 99 percent of the world to give up.聽 I consider this group of seniors one my most successful groups because of each of them have overcame so much to reach where they are today. They will all be very successful after basketball for that very reason. I know that each of them have grown into young men ready to do whatever God has planned for them in life.聽 I believe God is far from finished with them this season and I am expecting an amazing post season run as these warrior lead by example.聽 I am going to miss each and every one of them dearly!鈥
On Saturday, SAGU will play Mid-America Christian University .聽 MACU is currently ranked no. 14 in the NAIA and our number two in the Sooner Athletic Conference.聽 At the end of January, MACU beat SAGU 98-88.
