Dean of the Southwestern College of Bible and Church Ministries
From the Dean of the Southwestern College of Bible and Church Ministries
Welcome to the Southwestern College of Bible and Church Ministries (SCBCM).
In the College of Bible and Church Ministries, faithful scholarship and genuine love for people are our top priorities. The Great Commandment — to love God and love others — is not simply an institutional motto. It is the animating conviction behind every course we teach, every degree we offer, and every student we serve.
College Distinctives
Our faculty are deeply committed followers of Jesus who bring together rigorous academic training and authentic pastoral care, embodying the truth that a life rooted in Christ naturally gives itself away in service to others.
That commitment produces graduates who are ready to lead. Churches across the country look to our Departments of Church Ministries and Bible & Theology to find capable pastoral staff, skilled interns, and effective ministry leaders.
Our programs in Intercultural Studies and Humanitarian Relief and Development hold students to demanding standards precisely because the communities they will serve around the world deserve nothing less. Whether your desire for vocational ministry is in the United States or in international contexts, this college is designed to prepare you well.
For many, a bachelor’s degree is only the beginning of a life of learning. In addition to practical preparation, each of our degrees is designed to equip students for advanced study. For example, our recent graduates from the department of Bible and Theology have gone on to pursue graduate degrees at institutions including Nelson Graduate School, Yale University, Princeton Theological Seminary, Duke Divinity School, Emory University, Baylor University, and others.
