The game was delayed shortly after the start due to lightning, and in the end, it was called early because of storms.聽 However, first year Head Coach Paul Hason is impressed with the fact that it didn鈥檛 hurt his team鈥檚 concentration, “Very few teams are able to get back into a rhythm after starting the game only to have it delayed for over an hour, 聽but today revealed that we have the discipline and focus to do just that.”

The Lady Lions showed their dominance early in the game, scoring four of their five goals in the first 30 minutes.聽 At the 13 minute mark, Aliyah Mora scored the first goal. Nadine Jaimes scored two goals, one at 23 minutes and one at 29 minutes into the game. Rachel Freed scored at the 26 minute mark.

SAGU鈥檚 lone goal in the second half came 10 minutes into the half when Natalie Solorio scored.

Goalkeeper Kathleen Espinoza allowed one goal and had one save for the Lady Lions.

“I believe we were able to maintain composure against a resilient opponent in unusual circumstances with the storms鈥, says Coach Hason, 鈥淲e appreciate and would like to thank all our fans who waited out the storms and stayed to support us.”

Immediately after the game, the team packed their bags to head off for their spiritual formation trip in the Texas Hill Country west of Austin.

On Saturday, August 27, 2016, the Lady Lions will host Howard Payne University at 6:30pm.
