Dallas, TX

Mallorie Lough has always felt called to serve in the sports industry. Through a series of doors that God opened for her at just the right times, she was blessed to receive the position of Multimedia Coordinator for FC Dallas , a Major League Soccer (MLS) team.

鈥淓verything that happened to me since I have been here at FC Dallas has definitely been a God thing,鈥 says Lough. 鈥淲ithin weeks of being hired, I was able to interview players from the Women鈥檚 National Team and last December (2017), I won Employee of the Quarter.鈥

Now serving as the Senior Multimedia Coordinator after a recent promotion, Lough鈥檚 responsibilities include overseeing the production of videos that serve as in-game content, pre-game hype videos, weekly previews and marketing-related content for the team鈥檚 sponsors.

As a former collegiate athlete, one of her favorite aspects of the job is the game experience and the excitement that comes with working on the field.

鈥淏eing able to form relationships with the team and the coaches is probably right above just being on the sidelines. Most sports, you wouldn鈥檛 have as much access to the players and the coaches,” she says.

Lough is a soccer fan herself with goals to one day work with the U.S. Women鈥檚 National Soccer Team-a dream that she felt God called her to when she was a student-athlete, playing for the women鈥檚 basketball team at Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) .

In 2015, Mallorie Lough remembers watching the U.S. Women鈥檚 National Soccer Team play in the FIFA Women’s World Cup . In that moment, something clicked and she knew it wasn鈥檛 basketball God was calling her to-it was soccer. When she learned of the FC Dallas team, she applied for the multimedia internship in the fall of 2016, her last semester.

鈥淚t was kind of funny because I had applied for the internship two times and I didn鈥檛 get it. I ended up doing an internship with Southern Methodist University (SMU) Football just so I could get credit to graduate, however, I wasn鈥檛 satisfied. I applied one more time with FC Dallas and by the grace of God, I got it. 鈥

Upon completing her internship, she was surprised to receive a call from the team in which management expressed to her that they would like for her to apply for the full-time position. She followed their advice and the rest is history.

While she has continued to enjoy her position with FC Dallas, Lough still has her sights set on eventually working with the women鈥檚 national team. 鈥淚 feel like this will be a good stepping stone for what鈥檚 next. My main goal is to pursue what God has for me and that is still to eventually work with the U.S. women鈥檚 national team.鈥

Lough is coming up on her two-year work anniversary this February with the FC Dallas multimedia team. Since stepping out of the classroom and into the workforce, she believes that the training she received at SAGU has played a vital role in her career. Lough graduated with a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Digital Media Arts (DMA) and a minor in Marketing in the fall of 2016.

鈥淚 think the biggest thing was just all the hands-on access I had to the camera equipment that SAGU has and the personal relationships teachers had with students and with my peers.鈥

As far as advice for DMA students, Lough says 鈥渂e more engaged. If there are alumni who would allow you come shadow them, do that because the more experience you have, the more you will learn and the more it is gonna help you prepare for your career.鈥
