Waxahachie, Texas – August 31, 2015 – SAGU will participate in the seventh-annual North Texas Giving Day on September 17, 2015. Donations of $25 – $50,000 made 6 a.m. to midnight on Giving Day to nonprofits listed on the will be amplified by $2.2 million in bonus funds. Gifts below $25 help SAGU compete for other prizes.

“North Texas Giving Day is a day of celebration here in North Texas. Certainly it is for the nonprofits, some of whose years are made in a single day from the generosity of tens of thousands of donors,” said Brent Christopher, president and CEO, Communities Foundation of Texas and North Texas Giving Day founder. “And the cheer and goodwill extend to the community, too. From friends donating over coffee or at concerts to strangers congregating at Donation Station events, everyone gets swept up in this tremendous drive to give back. We can’t wait to see what unfolds this year.”

Since 2009, Giving Day has pumped $86 million into local nonprofits and has broken three national giving day records. In 2014, more than 98,000 gifts totaling $26.3 million were donated, benefiting more than 1,580 local nonprofits.

This is SAGU’s first time to participate. Speaking about the event, Alumni Relations Director Devin Ferguson says, “We are excited to be among many great nonprofits across North Texas that are making a difference in the community. An event like this shows just how much a gift of any size can make a big difference for an organization. The support of faithful friends and alumni has been a lifeline for SAGU throughout its 88-year history. We need alumni and friends from all over to show their Lion pride on September 17, by giving to help make this first year a success—all for the benefit of SAGU and its students.”

North Texas Giving Day was launched in 2009 by Communities Foundation of Texas with ongoing support from Center for Nonprofit Management. General bonus funds and prizes have been contributed so far by: Amon G.
