SAGU Football announces small but mighty recruiting class
Waxahachie, Texas – February 8, 2018- The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) football team has added 13 new recruits as part of Signing Day 2018. The newest members of the pride will look to improve on last season’s impressive 8-3 record.
Head Coach Frank Tristan is excited to welcome this group of incoming freshman, “This is our smallest recruiting class, but probably the most talented. Our staff worked tirelessly in getting good quality kids for both our football program and our university.”
The reason for the small recruiting class is simply space. The Lions don’t have many open spots on their roster, as they are returning 93 players from the 2017 season. A good problem to have according to Coach Tristan, “With the retention we have we are returning last year’s leaders and now adding a strong recruiting class only adds to our depth.”
“Our main focus was lineman and Evan Greathouse , Sebastian Dimas and Keandre Belcher highlight this class,” explains Tristan, “Evan was the starting center for 6A powerhouse Katy High School in Katy, Texas. We also add State Champion J alen Haynes , who was a starting defensive back for Trinity Christian Cedar Hill High School.”
